The Guardia Civil has located almost 1,200 kg of hashish that was transported hidden inside the cooling mechanism of a truck that transported fruit and vegetables on an international route.

The discovery took place during a verification point in an industrial zone in La Muela (Zaragoza). In it, a truck made a suspicious manoeuvre when it noticed the police presence, which is why it was immediately detained. The driver was identified, who had a police record for events related to crimes against public health, and the merchandise was searched.

The Valladolid Court has sentenced a National Police agent to 3 years in prison, after he was tried for illegally detaining and beating a man with mental health problems who in May 2022 entered the Parquesol Police Station to request psychiatric admission believing that it was a hospital.

In its ruling, the Fourth Criminal Section of the Provincial Court considers that the public official has proven the authorship of a crime of illegal detention – they apply the mitigating circumstance of reparation for damage -, deserving of three-year sentence. of prison and eight years of disqualification from practicing the profession.

The Sumar political group are to propose the creation of an independent body for the prevention of corruption today, as recommended by the Group of States against Corruption (Greco) and as other countries have already implemented, but Spain where countless corruption cases are still ongoing, has not.

The leader of Sumar and second vice president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, announced this in an interview as a central measure of a “battery of proposals” that her parliamentary group will register to prevent a new ‘Koldo case’ from being repeated.

The week begins in Spain with the publication of unemployment and Social Security affiliation figures for February, as well as data on tourist spending and border movements.

In the eurozone, the Sentix index of investment confidence will be the main reference, on a day in which the EU Energy Ministers meet.

In Spain, the Ministry of Labour publishes the registered unemployment figures for February, and the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration publishes Social Security affiliation figures for February.

The Institute of National Statistics (INE) disseminates the survey of tourist spending and border movements for January and 2023, as well as the railway transport statistics for the fourth quarter.

In the Eurozone, the ECB publishes bank interest rate statistics, the March Sentix index of investment confidence comes to light, and Eurostat publishes trade data with China for 2023.

At the Transportation, Telecommunications and Energy Council, Ministers will exchange views on the state of work in relation to security of supply and preparations for winter 2024-2025.

In the UK, we will have the CBI Monthly Growth Indicator, and UK Finance household finance review.

For runners, on 10 March, Elche has both as 7.2k and half marathon, Crevillente on 6 April has a 6k race, and the Dama de Guardamar half marathon, which takes the form of both a 10k and 21k variant and will take place in Guardamar del Segura on 14 April 2024.
