It is essential to distinguish between acute and chronic pain.

- Chronic or persistent pain: Ongoing pain that varies in intensity. It may include flare-ups that become unmanageable with usual medication. - Initial consultation: Patients are seen in the outpatient clinic, where their case is reviewed to determine the most appropriate technique. It is recommended to bring all previous test results and medical reports.
- Subsequent appointments: The specialist may order further tests or perform diagnostic procedures, followed by monitoring the treatment or interventions provided.
- Administration of medications and other necessary healthcare products.
- Discharge planning: Patients receive comprehensive instructions to ensure proper follow-up and continuity of care and safety.
When Should You Visit the Pain Management Unit?
- Pain lasts longer than three months and interferes with daily activities.
- Medication is no longer effective.
- Pain has been investigated and treated but the origin remains unclear.
- You are not a candidate for surgery or prefer alternative treatments.
- You experience pain following surgery or an accident.
