This weekend marks the busiest period of the summer on Spain's roads as the DGT's "Operation Return" gets underway.

Expect extremely high levels of congestion and long delays on all major motorways and coastal routes, particularly leading back to major cities.

The DGT has identified the busiest times as Friday from 4 pm to midnight, Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm, and Sunday from 5 pm to 11 pm.

Numerous roads remain closed due to ongoing wildfires, especially in Castile and León, Extremadura, and Galicia, so planning your journey meticulously is vital.

Please exercise extreme caution with any discarded items, such as cigarettes and glass bottles, as the risk of fire is very high.
